Wake up! We’re taking the weather pattern off auto-pilot. (Or “Otto Pilot,” if you’re a fellow “Airplane!” fan.) You’ll see more clouds today, and a cold front waits in the weather wings, arriving late tonight.
Our official rain deficit remains at a little over 3 inches for the year. Not much is expected tonight through Friday morning, with less than a quarter inch forecast. Up to 3 inches of much-needed rain could fall in Texas and Oklahoma. They will tap the cooler air behind the cold front, and so will we.
This hasn’t been a bad little September. Indy average temps ran below normal from last weekend all the way up to yesterday, when we were 1 above average. After today we go back below the normals again. At least, a little. And at least a week. In fact, the 8-14 day forecast has below normal temps over the state through the last week of September.
We’ve had no 90s this month. September of *last* year featured four of those days, including a 100 degree reading on September 3.
Got a tweet from @fishersart yesterday, and they are happy to see sunshine in the weekend story. “Art in the Park” offers browsing possibilities (real-life, not Firefox or Chrome) in front of Fishers Town Hall on116th St. just west of I-69. They’ll have food & entertainment also.
The forecast is also good news for The Two Jason’s performing outdoors at Klipsch this weekend: Mraz Friday night, and Aldean Saturday night. Start-of-showtime temps will be in the mid 60s Friday evening, and around 70 Saturday.
I think the roof at Lucas Oil Stadium will be open Sunday. Hopefully, I won’t have to retract that prediction. (One of the replacement refs just threw a flag on that pun.) Tailgating temps will just be getting into the 60s. It will be into the mid 70s by NFL Showtime.
