It’s been exactly two weeks since Indianapolis was in the 90s. Won’t happen today, but it will be a little warmer than yesterday.
At 2am this morning the national weather charts showed the center of high pressure camped out over Angola, Indiana. And who could blame it? Nice lakes, close to Amish Country… The morning effect of that positioning is a light or calm wind, a clear sky, and pleasantly cool temperatures again.
The system will slowly work its way east over the next few days, sending a flow of southerly air into Indiana, and bringing high temps back up to around 90 this weekend.
Yesterday was the TENTH day this month featuring a below normal “average” temperature in Indy. We had NO days in July. The last month that is even close is April, with 11.
Isaac is now a tropical storm with 45 mph winds moving towards the leeward islands. It should become a hurricane tomorrow. A Hurricane Watch is in place for Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and parts of the Dominican Republic.
COAST TO COAST:
An active monsoon pattern continues across the southwestern United States, where heavy rainfall capable of flash flooding will persist through Wednesday evening. The greatest threat will be across portions of northwest Arizona, southeast California, eastern Nevada and southern Utah where Flash Flood Watches are in effect
