Indiana’s Weather For Saturday

August 18, 2012

seven-day-indy-scaled

A spectacular Saturday!

For once this long, hot, historic summer–Mother Nature’s timing is great.

Whether you’re knee-deep in the deep-fried Fair, or out on The Fringe (Festival), the sky will be blue. Even Gen-Con’ers gotta eat, so that stroll to Scotty’s comes with sun!

The weather for MotoGP activities should also pose no problem.

*However*…a weak front zips through Sunday, and there may be a few scattered showers in the northern third of the state. In central Indiana it should just translate to some extra clouds tomorrow.

The center of the biggest bubble of heat has definitely shifted west in the last couple of weeks. How…cool…is it?

Some early morning Saturday sample temperatures:
44 La Porte
45 Michigan City
46 Logansport
47 Marion
47 South Bend
49 Peru
49 Muncie
50 Lafayette
51 Bloomington
53 Terre Haute
55 Indianapolis

That 55 in Indy is as cool as it’s been at the Airport since June 13.

It won’t be quite as cool early Sunday morning, but temps won’t go above average again until the second half of the next week.

AROUND THE WORLD:
Tropical Storm Helene moves north along Mexico’s Gulf coast today, slamming areas where thousands of people were still recovering from flooding spawned last week by Hurricane Ernesto. Helene had maximum winds of 40mph.

Elsewhere: Portugal posted warnings for the central and eastern Azores islands as Tropical Storm Gordon moved eastward across the Atlantic and later turned into a hurricane. Max winds on Gordo are 75mph.
