Time passages. The signs are everywhere. The sunrise doesn’t come until exactly 7am tomorrow, school buses are back on my street, and the Colts are back on TV.
Our immediate weather news is the passage of a cold front that will happen sometime this evening.
In front of the front: another warm day. In fact, today is the warmest in the entire 7 Day Forecast. Behind the front, a shift in wind from southerly to westerly, and dropping dew points. It will be dry and cooler than average Friday through the weekend.
Weather regime changes sometimes come with a struggle, and this front has enough upper air firepower to produce a few thunderstorms that become severe, with respect to large hail and damaging wind. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire state under a “slight risk.” target=”_blank”>
We are still in a drought, so heavy rainfall is probably more of a Reward than a Risk, and it is also possible today, at least in some locations. Up to an inch of precipitation is possible from the storms late this afternoon and evening. Let’s hope we get the water, because the forecast grows quiet into much of next week. Temperatures (after today) will again trend below average. Excellent GP weather this weekend, and more than Fair at the Fairgrounds.
