Missed it by THAT much! Yesterday’s high of 93 was one degree off my prediction and one degree off the hottest day of the year so far. If at first you don’t succeed…. I’m forecasting 94 again today.
And “again” is the key for today’s forecast. Again there will be a breeze, again it won’t be humid enough to qualify for Heat Advisory status.
Oh–it’s also Summer! The solstice arrives this evening at 7:09pm.
First day of summer last year? We were soaking up 2.03 of rain from the day before! The high was 87. Last June was the opposite of this one. The month’s precipitation total was above average. Indy finished the month at 5.76 inches!
So far this month: a grand total of .05 of an inch. We own the “driest June ever” spot right now. In fact, we’d need another third of an inch just to compete with that “driest ever.” The month of June 1988 brought .36″ to the Airport.
One difference between this year and 1988. Not quite as hot. But definitely dry. Dry enough for the following paragraph.
Burn (ban) baby, burn! There are now 32 counties in the state with active burn bans, and it now includes Johnson and Shelby counties. An updated map is attached.
Where is it wet? That’s easy. Go north, young man. Today’s the third day this week of storms in the Upper Midwest. It will be active from Iowa over to Michigan today.
That’s what we might tap tomorrow. Storm chances Thursday are about 40 percent, and the biggest threat will be in the afternoon and evening. Around a quarter of an inch is possible with this system. (A forecast for precip through Friday is attached.)
COAST TO COAST:
Seasonably sticky for the first partial day of summer from from Dallas to Atlanta and into New Orleans. Excessive Heat warnings are out for Arizona and California. Temps could get into the 110s!
WIKI-POTEETIA:
