Indiana’s Weather For Sunday

May 13, 2012

Showers will be confined to the southeast corner of the state today mainly from around Columbus south and eastward. Otherwise, some sun for Mom, and temperatures into the low to mid 70s in Central Indiana. Mother Nature’s being kind to most of the state on Mother’s Day.

That would be one HOT Mama out west. Excessive Heat Warnings are out for the deserts of southeast California and southwest Arizona. High temp in Yuma, AZ is 105 today. The normal is 94. In the aptly name “Furnace Creek” California the forecast is 111 today, and above 110 through Thursday. It’s the first big stretch of really hot weather this season.

Severe weather is a possibility in much of New Mexico, and west Texas today. At the beginning of the year, about half of Texas was in severe drought or worse. Precipitation over the past four months has alleviated drought conditions across the southern and eastern portions of the state. Now only a qrarter of the state is experiencing severe drought or worse.

The average high today is 72 and the average low is 52. Records are 88 and 35. Sunrise time is 6:32 and sunset is 8:51.
