Here’s a map of the Watch, which includes the 95-3 MNC listening area. The reason is the first big lake effect snow event of the winter. It is expected from late Sunday night through early Tuesday morning. Snow accumulations of anywhere from 8 to 14 inches are possible with locally higher amounts within the heaviest snow bands. Some uncertainty remains as to where the heaviest snowfall will occur so a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for parts of northwest Indiana and Southwest lower Michigan.
In addition to the heavy snow possibility…very strong winds and the coldest air of the season are expected. Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow creating dangerous driving conditions along with wind chills in the single digits. Many roads will likely become impassable in areas that see the heaviest snowfall.
