In order for an egg to start to become firm or cook, you need a temperature of at least 158°. Meteorologist Chad Evans from WLFI in Lafayette checked an INDOT sensor on I-65 near Rensselaer Thursday afternoon. The road surface temperature was 141°!
You could ALMOST fry that proverbial egg on the interstate yesterday. I bet you would get a nice fancy omelet from doing it around Chicago or the Toll Road, since you have to pay.
